Reading this blog

A friend said to me recently in an email that I must be pleased by the success of the Pygar blog. I hadn't thought about it in that way. Its success I suppose is that it has attracted a readership - and an active readership that joins in discussion in a thoughtful, caring and supportive way. It is what I would have hoped for I suppose.

When I started it I was worried that I might get flamed for my views so from the very beginning I have been pleased with all the supportive comments. I hope that because I write honestly and, I hope, non-judgementally in the main then others feel safe to express their views too. I hope it can remain a place where people with an interest in the discussions can express themselves honestly and know that any responses will continue to be supportive. That is not to say that we will not have disagreements. Healthy debate is useful and can help us all develop our ideas and views and knowledge. I know I am still learning and am happy to acknowledge that I can learn from many of the readers of this blog. It has been heartening to have other Doms comment in similar vein.

If this blog has quality and merit - it is because of the quality of comments from readers. Another friend wrote to me that she only read the blog from a feed so had missed most of the comments. If you too are reading in such a way I recommend you visit and read the comments. There is so much of value and interest there. They are the heart of this blog.

So thank you to all who have commented on this blog and helped make it worth reading.

"as the beginning of developing a new D/s ethic." from the descriptive line in your Blog title. You have mentioned a few times throughout the blog a worry that in writing your views of domiantion you would be flamed. In reflection that you have not been probably makes sense, the type of Dom (dare I say the typecast Dom) is not liekly to find this blog and if he/she did would dismiss it quickly and move on. Other like me were searching for it, a way to fit into the D/s model, 24/7 in my case but somehow not whips and chains and pain all the time (it has it's most fun places ;) ) but more real (not to suggest the other is not but I lack better vocabulary) and accepting of all human conditions including failure in both sub and Dom.

All of this to say good job Pygar keep it going and perhaps we will all learn something along the way. For me at least that is the sign of success.

Thank you Sir J.

Yes - we are all human and and it is important to accept we can fail whether sub or Dom. That can be difficult for Doms to admit and for subs to accept. - I think I feel a new post coming on!

But as you say - as long as we are all prepared to learn along the way.

There is a strength in being able to admit to weaknesses and a desire to learn. I believe it is the arrogance of Doms who know less than they pretend and who are not able to admit to occasional failure that is the true weakness.

You put effort into your blog, Pygar, and I think people respond in kind. It's a job well down and you better be very proud of what you have achieved here.

I'm for one am happy to have found it. At times it reminded me of my Master's words and teachings when I was with Him and it was nice to see someone with similar views as His. As well, it's great to see other people bring forth their own views and different ideas without it degenerating into an argument, like it seems to happen on some BDSM sites. It definitely had me going away with my thinking cap on many a time.

It's interesting that you were concerned about others flaming you for your views. It seems to me that a community that prides itself in being open-minded, in pushing the edge, in expanding boundaries, would welcome all views of the experience. Your voice is important and necessary, even if others ignore it or dismiss it.

For me, the most intimate moments are when my Master lets me see him weak. I know he feels deeply and this is what attracted me to him in the first place. We can both feel deeply, experience deeply, be human together and still maintain the tension of D/s.

Thank you emdie - and yes we all do make mistakes. I know I do!

Thank you too Lotus. I appreciate you sharing the fact that your most intimate moments are when your Master lets you see him weak and that you can still maintain the D/s dynamic. This is something I had already planned to write about in the future!

As someone who has never been in a Dom/sub relationship but am interested in the possibilities I applaud you for this blog.

I come here to learn, to read the discussions that allow me to form my own opinions and guide me along the path towards this. I am still undecided about whether this is the right path for me but it is refreshing to find a blog that deals with all aspects of the D/s life not just the sexual side.

many thanks

I am pleased that you are finding the blog helpful secretlynaughty. I hope you do eventually find the path that is best for you.

Regarding the sexual side - perhaps I should soon come to that as well!

Pygar, I agree with your thoughts on true weakness and I think we are on same page on a number of other ideas and I am reminded of the old saying "great minds think a like" however I never think of that saying without adding the follow up line "as do fools". So alas I plod on looking forward to the next post deep in thought.
